Detroit federal investigators are getting search warrants to gain access to the Facebook accounts of suspected criminals. The warrants that the federal investigators are seeking will give them access to all suspects pictures, mail, chat logs, see friends to look for partners in crime, lastly they are looking at GPS logs to back up alibis.

This is a quote from a man who was convicted using facebook. “To be honest with you, it bothers me,” said Wilson, 25, who was indicted Tuesday on bank robbery charges after the FBI compared Facebook photos with images taken from a bank surveillance video. “Facebook could have let me know what was going on. Instead, I got my door kicked down, and all of a sudden I’m in handcuffs.”

People have been arguing that when they get search warrants to search your facebook they dont serve the warrant like a typical warrant. Willson thinks that facebook should tell you whats going on just as if there was a normal search warrant being served.

It is very interesting to take a close look at major crimes that are committed in the city of Detroit over certain 24 hour periods. Not a day goes by without 2-3 serious crimes committed inside the city, and there are certainly trends that can be noticed by people analyzing these various crimes. We took a look at teh crimes in Detroit between 6am on March 18th and 6am on March 19th. There were five major crimes listed with the circumstance and wanted suspects listed. A few trends were noticed. The first is that out of a total of 8 suspects, 7 of those suspects were black males who were armed while committing the crime. The other suspect was a white male who was also armed. Another pattern noticed was that four of the five crimes were committed in the late evening hours or very early morning, which statistically is when most crimes are committed. The last obvious pattern is that all suspects either stole the victims car or had a car of their own, so they all fled by vehicle.
